Welcome to My Website!
I am H.M. Kim, a political scientist specializing in comparative political institutions, electoral competition, and corruption. I received my PhD in Political Science from the University of Houston in May 2026.
My research examines the political consequences of candidate-centered electoral systems, with particular attention to intra-party competition, campaign behavior, and corruption in local politics. Focusing primarily on East Asia, I use a mixed-methods approach that combines elite interviews, text analysis, machine learning, and quantitative analysis.
Through this research, I seek to better understand how electoral institutions shape political behavior, governance, and representation. Please feel free to explore my website to learn more about my research and teaching. I welcome opportunities for collaboration and scholarly exchange.
